Bio of Investment Artwork by:  Larry Rackley

The early days as an artist:

You conform as a young artist for several reasons such as:  1.  People expect / used to the same ole type of art, which takes away from an abstract artist talent and  creativity side.  But it pays the bills.

2.  Commission work;  Majority of people expect the realistic resemblance of the subject matter your painting.  Only those whom allow and give you creative freedom truly get a piece of art, and they typically don’t mind paying above and beyond for it.

Larry Rackley is a very non-conforming artist and this can be seen in many ways from just they mixed mediums used in the piece or by the point of view a subject matter is portrayed.

After numerous years in the Marine Corps, you whitness so many things and such negativity, hate, destitute, etc..  I witnessed the human sole diminishing (if that makes since) that I wanted to bring something of value to the world, I knew I wasn’t going to write the best help guide for the people nor would I ever be in a role to lead and make political changes so I wanted my art to brighten and be a positive influence in the world.  This is why I use such bright colors in my pieces, even if the subject matter may not be of a happy image or time, so by the use of color I try to balance this issue.

Ive been so blessed to live out my passions for the outdoors thru art.   I owe a great deal of gratitude to all those whom have supported me.

Viewpoints from the artist:

“Recreating a realistice life or subject matter does not bring out much creative effort nor inspiration from an artist.” L. Rackley 1997

Larry believes that its  not a right to perform art for individuals or the world but a priveledge,  he takes every opportunity to paint as blessing from above .

I want those whom typically would not purchase art, but yet love/share my art be able to experience ownership in an original piece.  By offering a level of artwork that shows my view on canvas, yet without paying the exorbant prices of my limited first run “one of a one” pieces.  I think everyone should be able to own an artist’s work whom they love/enjoy/have a bond with and not have to worry about how many years it will take to pay off.

The trick to this is to not de-value the upper-end artwork, so to protect the “one of one”pieces, my work in the “Basic/intro” category is only available to a customer whom I have met or had conversations (interviewed if you will) and deam they are passionate about that piece.

In other words:  Just like the old saying “art chooses the buyer and not the buyer chooses the art”, well I always choose the buyer of the upper end pieces.

I refuse to belittle any of my “one of one” pieces by producing t-shirts, cups, floor mats, etc… For those pieces that a collector or myself truly cherish, why defame that piece by putting it on a 19.00 t-shirt (no artist whom really cares and takes pride in his or hers art should disrespect it like that)  This is just another reason why my art continually increases in value over numerous others.

So many artist never reach or create that one piece which inspires others or makes an inpact to the community or world.  I don’t want to be in the same boat.  I pray and continue hope that one day I will reach my true potential to be able to not just paint for myself but for the world.  I don’t want to just paint what I want, but what the world wants and needs.  Im not good at expressing my feelings in general but thru the world of art I can, and I feel confident that I can make an inpact.   When I first started on this journey I didn’t care to know all the techniques and how to paint like the school instructors dictate but more WHY TO PAINT?  From confronting myself with that one question, I feel that I have grown by leaps and bounds in the art world because I put my heart, sole, personality and an underlying statement in much of my pieces.

A relationship with the ART:  Larry Rackley doesn’t only paint the subject matter he typically lives it as well.  He has experienced that piece in such a fond and creative way that only he can recreate it in the true contempary fashion that he does.  From this you can see the passion, heartache, fear, or just plain enjoyment in the brush strokes.

Abstract art transends borders it speaks to all lanquages and nationalities.  Larry’s work can hang in a New York penthouse, any museum, commercial building or it can hang in a persons house.  This in one of the many reasons why the art has been so successful and supported by so many affluent organizations worldwide.

Some of the more well known abstract pieces created by Larry, you can see the inner turmoil, sometimes depression, anger, enjoyment, peace, and do many other emotions.  But no matter what piece of art you purchase or own, you can always see emotion by the strokes

Much of the paint is not applied by brush but by pallet knife and fingers.

My work reflects whatever is going on in my life, whatever I’m fearful about whatever im joyfull about.  The first time I was able to paint in public on the mainstage I felt Gods Blessing and light shining down on me.  Thru my art I feel that I am able to pay homage to in my life.  It makes my gratitude tangible.

“I believe in the liberal use of paint, so as the looseness of the flow of paint can determine the true integrity of its sole existence in the outcome of a piece of art.  Not regulated to such controls that its destiny is predetermined to have no freedom of its own.”

The art is:                               Expressionism

Abstract / Abstract resemblance

Contempory

Point of view of passion

Shows struggle, conflict and resolution

mix-media

non-conforming to typical artist mediums and rules

The Recreation Product:  Larry is one of the few artist in todays art society whom has never shared the belief that “prints saved the artist from starvation”.  He is not a fan of recreation products but understands the value they serve to many.  In changing from a young painter to a very experienced artist, Larry has allowed prints but with much enforcements now;  such enforcements now exist that did not earlier in his carrer like many others such as no print runs will ever exceed 600 or more.  No “one of one” art will be reproduced unless authorized by Larry and or the owner of the piece.  Any piece that exceeds 60k US, will never be allowed or available for reproduction.

Our ARTIST PROOFS are the “real deal”,  they are truly used to protect and establish the quality of a print run.   They are used to eliminate any imperfections for the prints and are certified so.  Larry refuses to have volumes of Artist Proofs available for each print to just sell to make more money  this is just another reason why Larry’s work is truly investment style art.  He protects his clients with the utmost guarantees.

Q & A:

Q.  How do you show someone something that no one else could ever see?

A.  I would paint it true to my point of view.  Just like Modiglioni said “ how does a blind man paint, he paints something no one else can see”.

Q.  What would be the number one reason for creating art?

A.  Simply this, its my chance to alluminate and change peoples perspectives on certain subject matters.  If Im truly blessed I even have the opportunity to show and possably impact beliefs that might not be correct or at least express another side of the subject.

Q.What do you feel when you paint?

A.  Wow, that’s a big question and a potentencially long one,  I guess it would have to do with what I am painting, case in point if I am painting a fishing scene than its going to have emotions such as enjoyment, perspective of the thrill of the hunt, etc..  If it’s a piece that I have strong ties to than depending on the subject I could have everything from fear to guilt to sorrow to depression.

a note of Conservation from Larry Rackley

I believe that preservation of our planet is becoming an important issue for all mankind and I do think that every little bit can help.  That is why I support such organaizations as The Billfish Foundation (TBF) and Coastal Conservation Assossiation (CCA)  Both organizations are widely recongnized thoughout the world a being beneficial for the planets survival.  Please contact both organizations for suggestions on what you can do to help in this struggle.  While not every suggestion will prove doable or practical for everyone, I hope that each in our own way, we will become more sensitive to our environment and that over time, we will be able to stop negative process of absorbing our plantet, and eventually reverse it so that we can preserve our fragile Earth for many generations to come.
